I have been trying to think of some different 'stay in dates', but I am failing miserably. There is always the 'try to be a gourmet chef' option, but you can only eat so many burnt rolls before you need to move on.Crafts, board games, and the like are good but they are better in small groups.Does anyone have any ideas for some good (and cheap) dates?

If you are lucky enough to find somebody who loves a picnic in the park, you've hit the jackpot! Or how about a nice long romantic stroll along the beach or boardwalk.  Maybe buy a small cone and just enjoy each other's company. How about touring some of the local museums (historical) you can often get in realatively cheap and enjoy a trip back in time. Romantic dinners are nice if you're a good cook.  Skip the wine.  Or have wine (a cheaper brand will do) cheese and crackers on a picnic blanket on the living room floor. But only if she is comfortable with the idea. Rent a movie ( a new release ) and let her cuddle in your warm supportive arms.

Depending on how close you are with your date, many of the ideas in the Valentine's article would work for dates any-time, not just on Valentine's Day.http://www.destroydebt.com/articles/50-ways-to-say-i-love-you-for-almost-free.html

What about eating 'dates' (those cheap ones that grow in the oasis)? Make things all 'sweet' though.

Get your favourite movie channel's schedule of screenings and time the date to coincide with it. Get some popcorn. You don't have to be at the movies to enjoy the perks of being in the movies.

Movies - (Find out what her favorite movie is and the go rent it at the public library for FREE). Walk - what woman doesn't like a nice stroll and then to sit on the park bench for some good conversation? Picnic Do you have any companies that give free tours in your area??  We have a large brewery in our area that does this and it is a very popular attraction.

My boyfriend and I have a ton of stay in/cheap dates! We always cook dinners - a lot of the time together. It makes it much more special, and it's cute to light candles and stuff for the occassion. We like to go on walks, and we hope this year we can go on a few picnics. We like to play cards a lot, too. Get a few 40s and some cards and a bag of pretzels, and you have yourself a mini poker/rummy night!Watch movies! Rent them, or get an account with netflix, or download them from the internet. Either way, turn out the lights, make some popcorn with extra butter, and grab a bag of twizzlers and pretend youre at the movies. Get a bottle of wine (yellow tail has wine for 5 dollars - and its really good!) and draw a bath, with bubbles and candles! Put on some tunes and swoon your significant other. Its now a weekly ritual for me and my boyfriend.Trading massages is a great way to spend the night. PICK FLOWERS! Women love flowers, especially when they are hand picked.

How about a DVD(Chances are you already own at least one good one.), and some food(If he/she likes fast food then ding ding ding. 2 dollar-menu burgers & soda which you probably already have around your house.) Totalling anywhere from $3.00-$10.00+ for a given night. Pretty cheap as compared to let's say you went to the movies($15-$20+). Plus, it's more personal if it's 1on1 watching a movie as compared to a theatre.

Maybe I am the only one that likes to do this but simple crafts activities are a fun thing for me to do with someone. I have bought tons of coloring books at thrift stores for less than a dollar, also acrylic paints do not cost very much at WalMart or other stores like that. They also sell ceramic figurines you can paint for very cheap. Then you can paint something for each other and take them home and have a memory. I find talking while you are doing some other activity makes things less awkward especially if you are just getting to know someone.
