I live in Chicago and I need help in terms of my debt. Who are the best companies for me to work with? I've tried looking for Chicago debt help and consolidation companies on the directory but nothing seems to come up

In terms of Chicago debt help and consolidation, there are two options available for consumers like yourself who reside in Illinois. You can either go thru consumer credit counseling or debt settlement.

Just to pick up on where Karess left off, Chicago debt help and consolidation can be done through credit counseling and debt settlement. Much like the rest of the country, a number of Illinois residents are having difficulty in paying for their bills. These two options are good alternatives to filing for bankruptcy and can help you re-establish your credit history.Credit counseling enables you to create a more effective and feasible budget system via counseling sessions with a certified counselor. If the latter also sees the need for you to be enrolled in a debt management plan, they will do so.

how much do Chicago debt help and consolidation companies charge their clients? It pretty much depends. You may either work for a for-profit company or a non-profit one. But even the non-profit companies charge monthly fees now, at $25-30 each month.

how about debt settlement?

In a debt settlement you are expected to pay 15% of your current debt amount as a service fee to them. You don't need to come up with that amount up front because the amount will be spread out over a 12-18 month period.
